From Prospect Digest · Data through 2026-08-31

A real edition, delivered on Monday 31 August 2026. Each edition carries a lead, up to three further strong developments and, on some mornings, one worth watching. Never padded: when nothing strong enough clears the bar, there is no edition at all.

Fall League under way. As of 12 October 2026 the minor-league season is over and the Arizona Fall League, which began on 3 October, is being played. Nine Signal tracks which prospects are playing there, and the research desk publishes only when something clears the bar.

What you get.

Your prospects, every morning in season.

Follow your PC guys and Nine Signal shows what changed overnight: a promotion, a hot stretch, a walk rate that jumped. Quiet nights stay quiet.

Alerts when it counts.

A big night, a debut, a call-up. You choose how much you hear for each player, from key moments only to every plate appearance.

Down to the complex leagues.

Coverage runs through every affiliated level, including the complex leagues where a lot of the prospects collectors follow get their start, with tracking numbers most coverage never reaches.

Research that leads somewhere.

Following minor-league prospects is a scattered job: research in one place, schedules in another, box scores somewhere else. Nine Signal carries one player the whole way, from the research that surfaced him to the live game and the moments worth interrupting you for.

  1. Step 1

    Prospect Digest

He shows up in the research. The daily board and the researched universe put him in front of you, with the reason he qualified.

Demetrio Crisantes · 23 SepMorning Signal flags his walk rate.

  2. Step 2

    Prospect Digest

You read why he matters. The dossier brings rolling performance, Statcast, trends and approach together around the player.

Crisantes: On the desk's research list, so his page carries the dossier.

  3. Step 3

    Live

You follow him. He joins one live board with everyone else you follow: tonight's games, in progress, in one place.

Crisantes: Next games: Arizona Fall League, from 3 Oct (Fall League roster).

  4. Step 4

    Live

You hear about it when it counts. Signals stay on the board; they never buzz your phone. Alerts are the few moments that clear the bar you set, and each one links back to the moment.

Crisantes: No alert in this example: alerts reach only members who follow him.

A real example: Demetrio Crisantes

Reno Aces, Triple-A · age 22 · from the research desk's work of 23 September 2026

What surfaced

On 23 September, Morning Signal flagged his walk rate as one of that morning's notable changes.

Why it deserved another look

At 22, at the top level of the minors, he was walking once every seven plate appearances, against about once every twelve across all his Triple-A games, a total that includes this stretch.

What to watch next

Whether it holds as the sample grows. Ninety-one plate appearances is small and walk rates swing: a reason to look again, not proof his approach changed. The Arizona Fall League, which began on 3 October, is the next place to look.

About these numbers. Recent: Triple-A, 25 August to 20 September. Compared with all his Triple-A games, 21 July to 20 September, which includes those same 91 plate appearances: the comparison the research used. Based on the 23 September research, not a copy of the edition; its hard-hit figure is omitted because the tracking data behind it was later found incomplete. The Fall League is separate roster context, from Nine Signal's roster capture of 15 September.

Prospect Digest The research desk

Start with what changed.

Prospect Digest is the research desk inside Nine Signal. It turns the prospect universe into a prioritized daily board, deeper player dossiers, rankings context, and the evidence behind who deserves another look.

  • Daily Intelligence

What changed? Promotions, hot and cold stretches, notable games: the signals worth opening first.
  • Discovery

Who deserves another look? The players the stated rules surface, each with the reason he qualified.
  • Dossiers

Why does it matter? Rolling performance, Statcast, trends, arsenal and approach, brought together around the player.
  • Prospect Index

How does he compare? Where a player sits in the researched population, and what the placement is built on.

The morning board: who is hot, whose status changed, and who is cooling.

The morning Action Zone: Top Conviction players with their recent line against their season rate, then status changes and concerns, each player with level, club and age.

Follow the players.
Not the box scores.

Follow a player and Nine Signal takes it from there: one board for everyone you follow, and push notifications tuned to how much you want to hear. You pick the mode per player:

  • Key Moments — the default: only the moments worth an interruption.
  • Follow Closely — every plate appearance or completed inning.
  • Custom — pick the event types yourself.
  • Muted — still on your board, never in your pocket.

Two one-night overrides, Follow Closely Tonight and Mute Tonight, cover a single game and expire on their own. When nothing clears your bar, Nine Signal stays quiet. A routine night doesn't buzz anyone.

The Nine Signal live board grouped into games live now, delayed and suspended, and later today, with the followed player on each game.
The alert setting for one followed player: Follow Closely tonight and Mute tonight for a single game, then Key Moments, Follow Closely, Custom or Muted as the standing setting.

One player. One place.

Identity, live state and the next game sit at the top. The Prospect Digest dossier sits underneath, on the same page, for the same player. When the desk hasn't covered someone, you can still follow him live, and his page says so rather than pretending research exists.

One researched player's page: age, age versus level and season OPS and AVG at the top, a live panel with his follow state, club and today's game beneath it, then Player Intelligence and his Prospect Index rank.

Built to be checked.

Nine Signal measures what has happened on the field, from public data, by stated rules. It is not a scouting service and it does not promise outcomes. Here is exactly what it does.

Selection

Rules you can read. Players enter the researched universe on age-for-level, performance at that level, and recent signals, and every player shows the reason he qualified.

Data

Real, and named. Official MLB Stats API data, plus Statcast-style pitch and batted-ball tracking Nine Signal computes itself, including complex-league levels most coverage never reaches.

Integrity

Honesty over volume. A metric the leagues didn't track is published as missing, never as a fake zero. The Prospect Index ranks on this season's actual performance, real plate appearances at real levels, with no scout grades and no invented scores.

Cadence

Every morning, in season. In season, the board, the dossiers and the index rebuild every morning from the previous day's games. Questions about the method or the data? support@prospect-digest.com.

Asked and answered.

What is Nine Signal?

One place to follow minor-league baseball prospects: research and player dossiers from Prospect Digest before first pitch, plus a live board and configurable push alerts once the games start.

What is Prospect Digest, and how do the two relate?

Prospect Digest is the research desk inside Nine Signal. It authors the daily intelligence, the player dossiers and the rankings context you read in the app. Nine Signal is the product it lives in. One product, not two.

Which players and levels are covered?

You can search, follow and set alerts for every affiliated minor-league player, Triple-A down to the complex leagues. The research desk keeps deeper coverage on a researched universe of several hundred players, chosen on age-for-level, performance at that level, and recent signals. Every player shows why he qualified.

What counts as a signal?

A rule that fired, computed every morning from real performance: a promotion, a hot or cold stretch, a notable game. Each one shows the reason it fired. Signals are things to read on the board. Alerts are the far smaller set of moments that interrupt you, and you control that bar.

What kinds of alerts can I receive?

Push notifications, tuned per player: Key Moments (only the moments worth an interruption), Follow Closely (every plate appearance or completed inning), Custom (pick the event types yourself) or Muted. Two one-night overrides, Follow Closely Tonight and Mute Tonight, cover a single game and expire on their own.

Is the research automated or authored?

Both, in different places. Signals and selection follow stated rules, and every player shows why he qualified. Prospect Digest is the editorial layer that assembles and prioritizes what it means.

Does Nine Signal work on my phone?

Yes. Nine Signal is an installable web app. Add it to your home screen and it runs standalone, with push notifications, on iPhone and Android. There is no app-store listing.

Is Nine Signal free, and how do I get in?

Yes, it’s free during the beta. Leave your email at the bottom of this page and you’re in. Your setup email usually arrives within a few minutes. If paid plans ever come, members will hear about it first, well before anything changes.

Is Nine Signal affiliated with MLB or MiLB?

No. Nine Signal is not affiliated with or endorsed by Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball. Baseball data is sourced from publicly available MLB systems.

What happens to my email?

It becomes the email on your Nine Signal account. If you tick the box, it also gets the free Sunday email, and every one of those has a one-click unsubscribe. We never share or sell your address. The privacy page has the details.
